Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp has revealed that he looks more like his on-screen character Will Byers than he once thought.
The 18-year-old actor shared a video on TikTok on Thursday identifying as gay.
The caption on the video screen reads: “When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was ‘we know’.”
In the clip, Schnapp smiles while lip-synching a voice saying, “You know what was never? So serious. It was never that bad. Honestly, it never will be that bad.”
Below the video, Schnapp captioned the post: “I think I’m more like Will than I thought.”
Schnapp’s “Stranger Things” character, Will Byers, is a central figure in the hit Netflix show, and in the latest season 4, he declares his love for his friend, Mike (played by Finn Wolfhard).

This past July, Schnapp told Variety that “it’s 100% clear that [Will] is gay” and that his character has been struggling with his feelings throughout the show (a sentiment that most viewers picked up on).
Schnapp’s TikTok comments Thursday included many messages of love and support.
Like her co-stars on Stranger Things, which premiered in 2016, Schnapp primarily grew up in front of the camera. Due to the pandemic, there was a large gap between the broadcast of Season 3 of 2019 and Season 4 of last year, in which the show’s younger cast featured more distinctly than its adults.
Stranger Things will conclude with its fifth season, consisting of eight episodes.
