Jason David Frank, who played Tommy Oliver on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in the 1990s, has died. His age was 49.
According to Justine Hunt, Frank’s manager, Jason David Frank passed away on Sunday. Although she did not specify the cause of death or the date of death, she asked for “privacy for his family and friends at this difficult time.”
According to Walter Emmanuel Jones, who co-starred with Frank on “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,” he could not believe it. Having lost another member of our special family breaks my heart,” Jones wrote. At the age of 27, Thuy Trang, who played the original Yellow Power Ranger, died in a car accident.
In 1993, Fox aired “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,” a show about five teenage mutants who save the world from evil. As early as season one, Frank’s Tommy Oliver was seen as a villain, brainwashed by Rita Repulsa. Eventually, he became the Green Ranger and one of the show’s most popular characters.
Despite not being intended to be permanent, Frank was later brought back to lead the White Ranger team. A variety of Tommy Oliver’s characters appeared in spinoff TV series, including the Red Zeo Ranger, the Red Turbo Ranger, and the Black Dino Ranger. As well as playing him in “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie” and “Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie,” he also appeared in the 2017 reboot “Power Rangers.”

In 2009 and 2010, Frank fought in several mixed martial arts bouts.
In August, TMZ reported that Frank’s second wife, Tammie Frank, filed for divorce. His first marriage to Shawna Frank produced three children, and his second marriage to Tammie Frank produced one. Jason David Frank is survived by four children.
