He is the youngest of four children of Betty Sue Palmer and John Christopher Depp. His childhood was spent in conveyance- he and his three aged siblings were dislocated multitudinous times during his childhood before ultimately settling in Miramar, Florida.
Depp harbored dreams of being a musician, inspired by his mother’s gift. Depp dropped out of high school at the age of 16 to pursue a career in music after his parents divorced.
Depp began his acting career in the late 1980s, appearing in the television series 21 Jump Street. He made his film debut in the horror film A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). In the 1990s, Depp began to work with more independent directors, such as Tim Burton and starred in films such as Edward Scissorhands (1990), Ed Wood (1994), and Sleepy Hollow (1999).
He achieved international fame and critical acclaim for his portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series (2003- present).
