After crashing into a home last week, Anne Heche slipped into a coma and is in critical condition, despite earlier reports that the actor was stable.
The spokesperson said Anne Heche has a “significant” pulmonary injury and burns that require surgery.
A crash near 11 a.m. on Aug. 5 in Los Angeles’ Mar Vista neighborhood left Heche, 53, hospitalized.
It took nearly 60 firefighters over an hour to extinguish a “heavy fire” that engulfed the car and home.
Los Angeles police obtained a warrant Friday to draw Heche’s blood, and if it is determined she had been drinking or using drugs, she could be charged with misdemeanor DUI and hit-and-run. The City Attorney’s Office would be notified of any findings.
A spokesperson for the actress said she is in critical condition and that she needs surgery for burns. She is relying on mechanical ventilation.
According to photographs taken Friday, Heche’s blue Mini Cooper was significantly damaged and the front of her house was destroyed. Fire officials said Anne Heche was driving alone at the time and no other injuries were reported.
In a statement, Thomas Jane, an ex-boyfriend of Anne Heche, said, “This news is devastating to me and to all who love Anne and her two sons.
He expressed his gratitude that no one else was hurt, saying that she was one of the best of her generation.

In 1991, Anne Heche won a Daytime Emmy for playing a character in the NBC soap opera “Another World.” Other Hollywood celebrities have stepped up in support of Heche.

Heche’s ex-boyfriend, actor James Tupper, shared a picture of her and their 13-year-old son Atlas on Instagram.
Tupper, who met Anne Heche on the set of the TV series “Men in Trees,” wrote: “Thoughts and prayers for this lovely woman, actress, and mother.”
In a tweet, Rosanna Arquette said that she had compassion for Heche, but it “clearly isn’t ok” to put lives at risk.
In 1997, Heche was dating comedian Ellen DeGeneres, but their relationship ended in 2000 after Heche was found wandering in a rural area of Fresno County, California, acting disoriented and confused.
In her memoir, “Call Me Crazy,” Heche described her struggles with mental health.
In an interview with Larry King that year, she described the book as a way to beat everyone else to the punch. “I certainly understand what’s been written about me in the media. I went crazy, even though I was never diagnosed.”
DeGeneres was also mentioned in Heche’s writing. According to her, the relationship was groundbreaking because it was both public and same-sex.
