Netflix has just taken a first look at Blonde, and how ethereal it is. In this new teaser trailer for the Andrew Dominik-directed film, Ana de Armas is portrayed as Marilyn Monroe. The Hollywood icon is initially portrayed as a tear-filled bundle of nerves, praying that some mysterious “she” will not leave him as soon as her makeup is applied and Monroe turns into a smiling, shining star, we know who she is waiting for.
The teaser features some of Monroe’s most recognizable scenes, from her last number in Gentleman Prefer Blondes to her white dress flying in the air.

Andrew Dominik wrote and directed Blonde, based on a novel by Joyce Carroll Oates, and the film combines facts and fiction to re-imagine the life of the great Hollywood star, bridging the gap between Monroe’s public and private.

Each of the 47 consecutive shooting days began with three hours of shiny and quick hair and makeup, Ana de Armas confirmed in the Netflix queue. According to Netflix, the adaptation of the late Monroe’s, Dominik is set to feature some of the most significant performances of his entire career. For example, in the trailer, you’ll see D’Armas splitting one side of his face with shoulder-length Hollywood waves as he plays Monroe’s iconic “Diamonds Are the Girl’s Best” in Howard Hawks’ musical gentleman Prefer Blondes.
In addition to Ana de Armas, the cast includes Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale, Caspar Phillipson, Evan Williams, Toby Huss, Julianne Nicholson, Lily Fisher, Sara Paxton, David Warshofsky, Xavier Samuel, Michael Masini, Spencer Garrett, Chris Lemmon, Rebecca Wisocky, Scoot McNairy, Dan Butler, Garret Dillahunt, Lucy Devito, and Ned Bellamy.
Producers are Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Tracey Landon, and Scott Robertson, with Christina Oh the executive producer.
Blondes will be released globally on September 23 on Netflix.
