Based on IEEE 802.11be technology, Wi-Fi Certified 7 is set to revolutionize connectivity for home, enterprise, and industrial applications, with devices already entering the market.

    The Wi-Fi Alliance, renowned for setting Wi-Fi standards, highlighted in a recent post that Wi-Fi 7 would significantly enhance the capabilities of applications demanding high throughput, lower latency, and increased reliability. These applications span a wide range, including augmented and virtual reality, immersive 3D training, and ultra-high-definition video streaming.

Kristen Hanich, an analyst with Parks Associates, emphasized that Wi-Fi 7 offers dramatically increased speeds over its predecessor, Wi-Fi 6 and 6E, reaching up to an impressive 46 Gbps compared to the maximum of 10 Gbps for Wi-Fi 6E. This leap in speed, while surpassing current residential needs, promises a more immediate benefit with lower power consumption for client devices such as laptops and phones.

    Wi-Fi 7 introduces a game-changing technology known as multi-link operation (MLO), according to Andrew Spivey, a senior analyst with ABI Research. MLO addresses spectrum congestion challenges by significantly improving spectrum efficiency, enabling the dynamic connection to multiple bands. Unlike previous Wi-Fi generations, users can now connect dynamically to multiple bands, providing a more flexible and efficient wireless experience.
