Tragedy in Minab: Contradictions Mount Over School Strike That Killed 160

School Strike That Killed 160

The pictures from Minab city in Iran are really hard to understand. Small coffins draped with the national flag lay on display. The fighting has injured many civilians, and this incident injured a large number of them. The Shajareh Tayyebeh Girls School is where this tragedy happened. A strike on February 28 killed over 160 people, most of them students.

Many people are talking about what happened. Their stories do not match. President Donald Trump said Iran did it.. There is a lot of video and expert evidence that says something different.

Trumps View on Iran

President Trump said he thinks Iran was responsible for destroying the school. “In my opinion based on what I’ve seen that was done by Iran ” he told reporters. He said Irans military technology is not reliable and often fails. “They are very inaccurate with their munitions ” he said. “They have no accuracy.”

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth agreed with the President. Trump said that even though the investigation is still going on the administration thinks that Iranian forces accidentaly hurt themselves.

The Tomahawk Question

Then some video footage came out and it caused problems for what the administration was saying. The video shows a cruise missile hitting something near the school. Reporters asked the President about this. They wanted to know how Iran could have done it if the missile looked like a U.S. Tomahawk.

The President was not as sure. “The Tomahawk… Is sold and used by countries ” Trump said. Additionally, he suggested that “Iran also has some Tomahawks.” “Nevertheless, when reporters asked why Iran was believed by him to be responsible—When other intelligence officials disagreed—it was admitted by him that he did not know enough about it.” Ultimately, he said he would accept whatever the investigation finds. Experts Analyze the Image

Some experts looked at the video from Minab. They think the strike came from a U.S. Missile:

  • The shape and wings of the missile are like a Tomahawk Land Attack Missile (TLAM).
  • The school is next to an IRGC base. It seems like the missile was means for the base.
  • experts say only a few countries, such as Japan and Australia, possess Tomahawk missiles. There is no evidence that Iran has them.

As the investigation continues the main disagreement is between what the administration says and what the video shows. For the families in Minab it does not matter what kind of missile was use. What matters is that many children did not come back, to their classrooms.
