Rajinikanth’s recent film Jailer has maintained its momentum. According to commercial analyst Manobala Vijayabalan, Jailor performed tremendously to become the second fastest Tamil film to cross the ₹550 crore mark worldwide.
Released on August 10, the action-packed film managed to take the £550m club on its twelfth day in cinemas. In comparison, another Rajinikanth film, ‘2.0’ achieved this milestone in just eight days in 2018.
Sharing on Twitter, Manobala Vijaybalan wrote, “Jailor entered the ₹500 club on 12th day at the global box office”. After the 2.0 record in just eight days, it is the second in Kollywood to achieve the feat. Here are Rajinikanth, Shiva Rajkumar, and Mohanlal’s earnings: ₹ 450.80 in weeks 1 and 2, Day 1 – ₹19.37 crore, Day 2 – ₹17.22 crore, Day 3 – ₹26.86 crore, Day 4 – ₹29.71 crore, Day 5 – ₹12.54 crore. The total crosses ₹556.50 crore.
On its second Monday, preliminary estimates from Sacnilk.com suggest the film earned ₹7 billion across all languages at the domestic box office in India. Currently, the film’s total collection in India stands at ₹288.6 billion net.
According to Manobala, ‘Jailor’ is well on its way to joining the ₹ 200 crore club in Tamil Nadu, having collected ₹ 194.7 crore so far. The film has been dubbed in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
In another tweet on Tuesday, Manobala shared, “Jailer continues to be flat at the Tamil Nadu box office. ₹159.02 cr in 1st week and ₹6.29 crore in 1st day, 2nd day – crore, 3rd Day – ₹9.47 crore, Day 4 – ₹10.35 crore, Day ₹4.06 crore, total now stands at ₹194.79Cr, approaching ₹200 crore mark of the state.

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala announced on Twitter on Tuesday, “After Version 2.0, ‘Jailor’ is the second Kollywood film to gross ₹75 crore in the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.” In another tweet, he pointed out that “‘Jailor’ has become the first Tamil film to cross the ₹60 crore mark in Karnataka.”
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, “Jailor” stars Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, and Tamannaah Bhatia in lead roles. It also stars Shiva Rajkumar, Mohanlal, and Jackie Shroff. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film’s melodious music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
