More than 30 polling stations across the Makerfield constituency opened at 7:00 am and will remain open until 10:00 pm.

Voter ID Rules for the Makerfield MP Election
People voting in the Makerfield by-election must bring valid photo identification to the polling station.

Accepted identification includes:
- Passport
- Driving licence
- Bus pass
- Blue Badge
- Voter Authority Certificate
- Voters can still use expired photo IDs if the photograph clearly matches their appearance. Election officials do not accept photocopies of identification documents.
