Lana criticized WWE’s “double standard” treatment of women and called for change

Former WWE Superstar Lana (CJ Perry) recently spoke with Liam Alexander-Stewart of Inside the Ropes for an in-depth conversation on a variety of topics. During the discussion, she criticized WWE for having double standards for its treatment of women and brought up the recent walkouts by Sasha Banks and Naomi in comparison to Brock Lesnar, which AEW World Champion CM Punk called out in a recent interview.

Lana called for the professional wrestling business to change

“Yeah, I mean, I think that’s a good question. You know, it’s really interesting that Brock went out just last week and so my question is, is Brock hanging out and Sasha and Naomi? What’s the difference between going out?” she asked. “You know why the commentators weren’t asking, was Brock unprofessional? Do you know? Was Brock hanging in the balance? No. He’s actually going into the main event, one of the biggest and most popular per-view of the year.

“So I think, again, that this controversy is much bigger than just talking about Vince McMahon and it’s like, is there still a double standard in wrestling? We see it in Hollywood. Big Charlize Theron, and Jennifer Lawrence, when took a stand and said, ‘Hey, we’re not going to do less than these guys.’ Charlize Theron shouldn’t be doing less than Chris Hemsworth in any way. You know, it’s good that she stood up and said, ‘Hey, I want equality.’

She added, “It’s just like me, I think there’s a double standard of what men can do with a man’s salary, and there’s a double standard between women and I don’t think that’s good. You know they dragged them through the mud. I understand that maybe Vince was angry about what he did. But at the end of the day, it was really petty, you know? And I’ve made my girls look like Sasha and Naomi. I think wrestling needs a change, you see? Sure. There’s a long list of things. Mistreatment of other guys, other men in the business who are overall superior. What about it?”

She has not been associated with WWE since June 2, 2021, when Lana and other employees were let go due to budget cuts. She still continues to model and act, and she also maintains her own website at CJPerry.com. This weekend at Starcast V in Nashville, Lana will make her public debut with AEW’s husband Miro.
