Jansen Panettiere, the younger brother of actress Hayden Panettiere, who followed his sister into show business with appearances on Even Stevens, Blue’s Clues, Ice Age: The Meltdown, and The Walking Dead, died Sunday in New York. He was 28 years old.
A representative for the actor confirmed the news but did not provide a cause of death or other details. The cause of his death is unknown and an investigation is underway, according to his sister’s representative.
Born on September 25, 1994, in Palisades, New York, Panettiere earned his first credit as a voice actor before playing a young Shia LaBeouf on Disney Channel’s Even Stevens in 2002. Subsequent credits include the sitcom Hope and Faith and the drama Third Watch in 2003, and the following year he voiced the recurring character Periwinkle on Blue’s Clues.
As a voice actor, his credits include 100 Things to Do Before Middle School, Robots, Ice Age: The Meltdown, and The X.

Onscreen he had roles in Nickelodeon’s Last Day of Summer (receiving a Young Artist Award nomination), The Babysitters, Major Crimes, and in 2019 an episode of The Walking Dead. His most recent credit is the 2022 film Love and Love Not, and he has had roles in several projects in production.
In 2004, Panettiere appeared alongside her sister in the Disney Channel movie Tiger Cruise. In 2019, he co-starred in MTV’s How High 2. Hayden Panettiere is best known for her roles in TV’s Heroes and Nashville as well as the Scream movie franchise.
Jansen Panettiere was also an artist and shared his pictures on Instagram and his website.
Panettiere showed his sibling relationship with Hayden in an Instagram post in January, sharing a black-and-white photo of Hayden giving Panettiere a haircut at home.
“Not the first haircut she’s tried to give me,” Panettiere wrote.
