Sons of the Forest, available in Steam Early Access on PC, pits you against hunger, disease, and mutant hells that want you dead. It might sound scary, but if the previous game The Forest is anything to go by, this survival game could really be something. But if you’re on a console? Is Sons of the Forest on PS4, PS5, or Xbox?
Sons of the Forest is not on PS4, PS5, or Xbox… Yet
Sons of the Forest PS4, PS5, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X | S and developer Endnight Games has yet to announce a console release. Will they work on the console port behind closed doors? It’s possible, but as Sons of the Forest is an Early Access game, matters are complicated.
You see, Sons of the Forest wasn’t always a Steam Early Access release. It was delayed several times but was set for a complete and final release. However, EndKnight then announced that it was going to release it as a Steam Early Access game.
The original The Forest was an early-access game, but it was planned ahead of time. Sons’ announcement came two weeks before its release. Instead of delaying the game again, Endnight decided to release it on Steam Early Access.

Xbox has its own Game Preview program, which initially makes unfinished games such as Valheim and Grounded available for purchase. However, the PlayStation doesn’t really have a similar program. So even though there’s an early-access console port, it’s only for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S. And, so far, Endnight hasn’t said anything about a console release.
Does that mean it’s not going to happen? The Forest has finally arrived on PlayStation 4 after spending years in Steam Early Access on PC. This came about six months after Forest left Steam Early Access and left Xbox.
So, it’s possible that the new game will end up on consoles after the PC version is out of Early Access. According to Endnight, the Steam Early Access period will last eight months, so there will be a bit of a wait if this is indeed happening. And we expect it to skip the last-gen consoles and go straight to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S.
So, no, Sons of the Forest PS4, PS5, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X | S, but it’s possible it could in the future.
