Soham Killer Hospitalised After Violent Attack at HMP Frankland
A violent prison attack seriously hurt one of Britain’s most notorious child killers, Ian Huntley.
He is serving a life sentence for murdering 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.
Another inmate attacked the 52-year-old Huntley inside a prison workshop at HMP Frankland, causing him head injuries.
Police said officers took a prisoner to hospital on Thursday morning after the incident.
What happened inside the high-security jail?
Attack During Workshop Activities

Huntley was attacked by a man in his 40s.
The attack took place during workshop activities at the Category A prison.
Reports suggest another inmate may have hit Huntley with a metal pole.
An air ambulance arrived at the prison, and authorities later took Huntley to hospital by road.
Police are investigating the incident.
Prison officials are holding the suspected attacker inside the jail and have not formally arrested him.
A police spokesperson said officers are working closely with prison authorities.
The Crime That Shocked Britain
The 2002 Soham Murders
A jury found Huntley guilty in 2003 of murdering Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in Soham, Cambridgeshire.
The two schoolgirls went missing on 4 August 2002.
Investigators later found their bodies in a ditch near an air base in Lakenheath, Suffolk.
The case shocked the nation and prompted authorities to change background checks for people working with children.
During the trial, prosecutors described Huntley as “ruthless”.
The judge gave him a life sentence with a minimum term of 40 years.
He will not become eligible for parole until 2042.
The court also jailed his former girlfriend, Maxine Carr, for helping to hide the crime.
Authorities released her in 2004 under a new identity.
Not the First Prison Attack
Previous Incidents Behind Bars

This is not the first time Huntley has been attacked in prison.
In 2005, another inmate scalded him with boiling water at HMP Wakefield.
In 2010, a prisoner slashed him across the throat at HMP Frankland.
Over the years, other inmates have targeted Huntley in the prison system because of his high-profile crimes.
