    2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs): List of Winners

    The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) took place on September 12, 2023, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The show was hosted by Nicki Minaj for the second consecutive year. This is the first time that the ceremony has been held on a Tuesday. This year, a new award category “Show of the Summer” was created based on fan voting. 

    Shakira received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Diddy received the Global Icon Award. Taylor Swift won nine out of 11 nominations, making her the most-awarded artist of the night.




    Winners and Nominees

    The first round of candidates was announced on 8 August. The nominations for Group of the Year, Show of the Summer, Album of the Year, and Song of the Summer were announced on 1 September. Taylor Swift leads the way with 11 nominations, followed by SZA with eight nominations, followed by Doja Kate, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Blackpink, and Olivia Rodrigo with six nominations each.

    Voted Categories

    Winners in the following categories were determined by fan voting. The first round of voting, known as the “public voting period”, begins on August 8 at noon ET, the same day the nominees are announced, and runs through September, with the best newcomer Except, the one that ended on September 12 ended at 6 PM ET on the 1st. 10 PM ET., Voting for the Summer Program began on September 3 at 11 am ET and ended on September 4 at 11 am ET. 

    Voting for the Team of the Year begins on September 4 at 11 a.m. ET and ends on September 7 at 11 a.m. ET. Voting for Song of the Summer began on September 7 at 11 a.m. ET and ended on September 11 at 11 a.m. ET. Voting for Album of the Year begins on September 11 at 11 a.m. ET and ends on September 12 at 11 a.m. ET.
